The present volume contains over 70 original research papers devoted to the design, testing and application of geosynthetic structures in soil. It provides both theoretical (modeling) and empirical information on how geosynthetics, configured in many ways, behave in the built environment. The book is divided into six major sections: (1) laboratory testing and physical modeling; (2) bridge and vertically loaded structures; (3) wall and slope design/construction; (4) pavement and footing; (5) embankment, soft ground and geosynthetic tubes; (6) application of numerical methods; (7) case histories. Papers were first presented at an international symposium held October, 2013 in Bologna, Italy. The book also includes several introductory essays on Dr. Dov Leshchinsky's life and work.
